Following Western Sydney University's announcement of plans to establish an independent campus in Bangalore, the University Grants Commission (UGC) on Tuesday notified regulations allowing foreign universities ranked among the world's top 500 to set up branch campuses in India, determine their admission process and fee structure, and repatriate funds to their parent campuses.
The registration date for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED 2024) and Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) 2024 has been extended by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay). Candidates can register for CEED and UCEED till November 13th.

Deakin University in Australia, the first foreign university to establish an international campus at Gandhinagar's GIFT City, began accepting applications for its two postgraduate programmes on Tuesday. Prof. Soumyo Mukherji was named director of BITS Pilani's Hyderabad campus for a period of five years today. He will succeed Prof. G. Sundar in leading the team. Mukherjee is currently employed at IIT Bombay as the Madhuri Sinha Chair Professor in Biomedical Engineering in the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering. On Wednesday, the Assam Cabinet authorised the reservation of three MBBS seats in the state's two medical institutions for citizens of Bhutan. At Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital in Barpeta, one seat will be set aside for citizens of Bhutan, while two seats at Nalbari Medical College will be designated for them. The education ministry has emphasised that the management fellowship programme offered by the top Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) is comparable to a PhD. The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the deadline for new admission to the July 2024 academic year. Students planning to apply for the July 2024 session of online distance learning (ODL) and online programs will now have another registration deadline. The revised deadline is 15th October 2024. Previously, the registration deadline for the ODL and online programmes was 30th September 2024.
