Educational Requirements – Important Exams One Should Appear for Pursuing a Career in Arts

You can easily get admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses without any entrance exam if you satisfy the following eligibility criteria:

  • The candidates must have completed their 10+2 (in case of undergraduate courses) and graduation (in case of postgraduate courses) from a recognized college or university.
  • The candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% in their latest academic qualification.
  • The candidates can belong to any stream – Science, Commerce, or Arts (in the case of undergraduate courses).
  • The candidates must have completed their graduation from an Arts background to pursue postgraduation in the Arts stream.

The Consortium of National Law Universities conducts Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for selecting eligible scholars for pursuing various UG and PG level courses in Law from certified and participating National Law Universities. It is a national-level exam consisting of 5 sections, which is conducted annually in an offline mode. Some public organisations like BHEL and ONGC also consider the CLAT scores during their recruitment process.


Candidates who aspire to pursue a career in fashion design are required to appear for the NIFT entrance exam. The National Institute of Fashion Technology conducts the NIFT entrance exam to shortlist eligible and deserving candidates in its various undergraduate and postgraduate fashion designing programs. Tata Institute of Social Sciences conducts a national-level computer-based entrance exam called the Tata Institute of Social Sciences National Entrance Test (TISS NET). Students who wish to pursue their higher education and postgraduation from Tata Institute of Social Sciences need to appear for this exam. TISS conducts this exam annually to select eligible candidates for its various postgraduate programs. 


Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan conducts a national-level Combined Shiksha Shastri Entrance Test (CSSET) for students who want to pursue B.Ed. in Sanskrit. The students who qualify for this exam get admission to the following three Sanskrit-deemed universities in India:

  • Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi
  • Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, Tirupati
  • Shree Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, New Delhi


The Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Exam (HSEE) is conducted to select eligible and deserving candidates for admission to IIT Madras. Students who aim to pursue a five-year integrated M.A. courses from IIT Madras appear for this exam.
