Garware Institute of Career Education and Development (GICED) was established after several proposals between the Mumbai University and the Garware Foundation to form an institute devoted to promote a career education. The Garware Foundation signed an agreement with the Mumbai University that gave birth to GICED as a unique institute to offer industry driven courses. It was established on 27th October, 1984 and was inaugurated by the then Chief Justice of India. The institute started offering regular diploma courses in 1958.
