Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) Government of India set up an Engineering College called Delhi Institute of Technology in the year 1983 to cater to the growing demand of workforce in the technology field. In its foundation year, the then Delhi Institute of Technology started its academic programme with around 45 students who were admitted to Electronics and Communication Engineering. The course was an Undergraduate programme which was regulated by the Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi.
