The University Grants Commission (UGC) has produced a new curriculum and credit framework for postgraduate degrees, recommending a one-year postgraduate programme.
"The National Education Policy 2020 recommends various master's programme designs with entry and exit points and a greater emphasis on research." "In accordance with policy, UGC has prepared draught Guidelines on Curriculum and Credit Framework for Postgraduate Programmes," according to an official UGC letter.
According to the current regulations, students who complete a four-year bachelor's course with honors/honours with research may be eligible for a one-year master's programme or an integrated 5-year bachelor's/master's programme.
The credit requirements and eligibility for the master's programmes are as follows:
— A bachelor's degree with Honours/Honours with Research and at least 160 credits for a 1-year/2-semester master's course at NHEQF level 6.5.
