SBI Foundation Awards IIT Bombay A Rs 22.5 Crore Grant To Develop A Banking Data And Analytics Cluster

The State Bank of India Foundation has offered a Rs 22.5 crore grant to the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) to develop a banking data and analytics hub. The centre will address the issues confronting India's banking and financial services sectors. The announcement occurred on the 68th Bank Holiday. The hub will include a 10,000-square-foot laboratory and will support research and skill development in data analytics and artificial intelligence. The grant underlines the relevance of data analytics and artificial intelligence in banking.

SBI Chairperson Dinesh Khara stated that this collaboration will strengthen SBI's AI capabilities, benefit the broader BFSI sector, and aid in the adoption of innovative technology. Professor Ravi Gudi, Dean of Alumni and Corporate Relations at IIT-B, stated that the hub will engage in competency building and outreach efforts to expand the talent pool of banking analysts.
