IIT Madras To Train Students In Ruriit-Kanpur 56th Convocation : Marry Kom Earns Doctorate Degree, 2127 Students Receives Degrees In UP Via Online Classes

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK), on 3rd July held its 56th convocation in the institute auditorium. The grads received their digital degrees through an in-house blockchain technology application developed by IIT Kanpur.

During the convocation, 2127 students were awarded degrees. 236 PhDs, 15 MTech-PhDs (Joint Degree), 483 MTechs, 739 BTechs, 21 MBAs, 16 MDes, 51 MS (by research), 40 PGPEX-VLFM, 1 DIIT Diploma, 151 MSc (2-year course), 18 Double Majors, 125 dual degrees, 14 MS-PDs (MS part of the Dual Degree), 149 BSs, and 68 eMasters degree programmes were awarded.

M C Mary Kom (Indian amateur boxer and politician), Devi Prasad Shetty (chairperson and founder, Narayana Health), and Natarajan Chandrasekaran (chairperson, Tata Sons) all received Doctor of Science degrees from IIT Kanpur.

The ceremony was presided over by Radhakrishnan K Koppillil, chairperson of IIT Kanpur's Board of Governors (BoG). The event's keynote speaker was N R Narayana Murthy, founder and chairman of Infosys. Koppillil congratulated the graduates on their accomplishments and encouraged them to contribute to society.
