Education News
The Indira Gandhi National University's (IGNOU) four-year program, known as FYUP, was introduced by Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The UGC Chairman was the chief guest during the launch, which was held at the National Seminar on G20 Presidency and India's Global Leadership Role.
Taking to the microblogging platform X, formerly Twitter, he wrote, "FYUP is an essential reform in Indian higher education. Students from across the country will have the opportunity to enrol in IGNOU's FYUP."
He further added, "Many of IGNOU's courses are also available on SWAYAM. Whether a student wants to take these courses as part of their regular programme or wants to do a simultaneous UG degree in a different discipline than their primary discipline, the opportunities for the students are aplenty."
At the National Seminar on G20 Presidency and India's Global Leadership Role, FYUP in IGNOU was introduced. The principal guest in attendance was the chairman of UGC.
The New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has led to the implementation of the FYUP. Students can choose to follow a three-year or four-year honors program with or without research under FYUP, which also institutes credit scores for all courses.
