Sukh Shiksha Yojana

According to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh government will allot Rs 53.21 crore every year to the 'Mukhya Mantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana,' a project that provides financial assistance to widows, poor women, divorced women, and disabled parents to help them finance their children's education and well-being.

The scheme focuses on two age groups. For children under 18, women and disabled parents would receive a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000 to cover educational, health, and nutritional expenditures. Students admitted to undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, or vocational studies will receive government financial aid to pay tuition and hostel costs.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu reaffirmed the government's unwavering commitment to the welfare of all its citizens, especially the vulnerable groups. He stated that divorced, deserted, or abandoned women frequently face substantial barriers to maintaining their children due to a lack of educational and financial means.

"These women are particularly vulnerable, lacking the moral and financial support needed to sustain themselves and ensure their children's education," he said.

The CM added that the initiative tries to prevent issues like child abuse, trafficking, teen marriages, and drug misuse by improving child safety at the family level.

The Mukhya Mantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana also targets the needs of children with impaired parents, recognising the close relationship between disability, unemployment, and poverty. The initiative covers all qualified women, children, and individuals with an annual household income of up to Rs 1 lakh. Applications can be sent to the local Child Development Project Officer.
