Deccan College post-graduation and Research Institute organised One day workshop on Jain Heritage on 06th June 2023 at 09.30 AM. The Jain religion and its core doctrines uphold the principle of ‘Non-Violence, i.e. ‘Ahiṁsā’ along with other influential ideas and practices such as the Pancamahāvratas (five great vows) and the Ratanatrayi (three jewels). It was these ideas and principles had inspired and influenced the tangible and intangible heritages of Jain traditions.
In present academia, the study of Jainism is widely acknowledged as ‘Jainology’ as one of the important and integral disciplines of South Asian religious studies. The scientific approach toward the study, documentation, preservation and conservation of these valuable heritages needs an hour. The proposed one-day workshop aims to introduce glimpses of the Jain heritage. It is a good opportunity for those interested in Jain heritage studies. The workshop is jointly organised by the Department of AIHC & Archaeology, Deccan College, Post Graduate and Research Institute, Pune and the Teerth Sanrakshini Mahasabha (TSM).
