PM Modi Inaugurates New Nalanda University Campus

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to open Nalanda University's new campus in Rajgir, Bihar. In a post on X, he expressed his delight at the occasion, calling it a "very special day for our education sector."PM Modi also highlighted Nalanda's "strong connection with our glorious past" and expressed confidence that the institution will meet the educational demands of the youth.

He wrote, "It's a very special day for our education sector. At around 10:30 AM today, the new campus of Nalanda University will be inaugurated at Rajgir. Nalanda has a strong connection with our glorious past. This university will surely go a long way in catering to the educational needs of the youth."

According to a PMO announcement, the Prime Minister will visit the Nalanda Ruins at roughly 9.45 AM in 2016. The Nalanda remains were designated as a United Nations World Heritage Site. He will launch the new Nalanda campus at around 10.30 AM. The Prime Minister will also address the crowd on occasion. Several prominent figures will attend the inauguration event, including heads of missions from 17 nations. 

The campus is divided into two academic buildings, with 40 classrooms and a total seating capacity of around 1900. It includes two auditoriums, each with a seating capacity of 300. It contains a student hostel with a capacity of around 550 people. It also has an international centre, an auditorium that can seat up to 2000 people, a faculty club, and a sports complex, to name a few. 

 

The Campus is a 'Net Zero' Green Campus. The self-sustaining facility includes:

  • Solar plants.
  • Household and drinking water treatment plants.
  • A wastewater recycling plant.
  • One hundred acres of water bodies.
  • Other environmentally friendly features.
