Jamia’s 2 Professors, 1 Alumnus Receive Delhi Urdu Academy Awards

Three Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) faculty members, one alumnus, and one current and past professor were honoured for their literary accomplishments at the Urdu Academy Awards, which were held on July 6, 2023, by the Government of Delhi. The award ceremony was held at the Delhi Secretariat's auditorium in IP Estate.
Mohammad Asaduddin, a professor from the Department of English, was among those honoured by the Urdu Academy, Government of Delhi, with the Translation for the Year 2021-22 award. Shamsul Haque Usmani, a retired professor at the institution, received the Pt Brij Mohan Dattataria Kaifi award for 2021-22. Aadil Hayat, JMI alumni, got the prize for Children's Literature for the 2019-20 school year from the Urdu Academy.
Najma Akhtar, Vice Chancellor of JMI, thanked the recipients and conveyed her best wishes for their future endeavours. Previously, Abdul Naseeb Khan, JMI's secretary to the vice chancellor, and Anisur Rahman, a former English professor at JMI, each received the Urdu Academy of Delhi's Award for Translation in 2018 and 2019. The Urdu Academy Awards honour and celebrate those who have made important contributions to Urdu literature.
