IIT Guwahati Welcomes The New Class And Begins Supporting Their Mental Health
Campus News
The 2023 class of students was recently welcomed to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Guwahati. 2200 students in all have applied for admission to the institute's various programmes.
This year, the institute organised a unique session to teach students how to effectively and stress-free manage their personal and academic lives. The students, their parents, and their siblings all came to the session. They were able to better comprehend the Centre for Holistic Wellbeing's system of mental health support at the institute, thanks to the special session.
All newly enrolled BTech students must attend counselling in order to receive mental support and become familiar with the options available. Additionally, it would make it easier for them to spot pupils who need attention early on. Six experts are available at the institute to assist students in need, including two psychiatrists and four counsellors. Students will receive counselling support every working day from 9 am to 8 pm. If necessary, they can visit with the counsellors after class.
The institute has started a "know your neighbour" programme to give students enough social support and a sense of community.
