The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) launched the second iteration of the "IITGN-Dakshana Leadership Programme" on June 7 for about 70 students from the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and other government schools from 16 Indian states with the goal of empowering IIT and engineering aspirant students from low socioeconomic backgrounds with essential skills of communication, leadership, and critical thinking.

These were chosen from the Dakshana Foundation's Pune, Bundi, Kottayam, and Lucknow centres based on their outstanding performance during IIT JEE preparation. Parents and guardians of these youngsters typically make less than Rs 2 lakh per year. Ten students who are already receiving scholarships from the Foundation for Excellence (FFE) to study at various institutions of national significance are also a part of this year's cohort.

Over the next one month, these students from across India, who have showcased outstanding academic abilities despite the weak financial condition of their families, will be provided with the best training and knowledge in an IIT environment to help them reach their full potential.
