Based on feedback from students and teachers, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi announced that it had cancelled a series of mid-semester exams to lessen student stress.

This occurs one month after Ayush Ashna, an IIT Delhi final-year B.Tech student, committed suicide. According to the institute, IIT Delhi once had a two-minor plus one-major examination evaluation structure. The Senate has adopted a one-minor and one-major examination evaluation system along with other continuous procedures starting with the current semester based on all students and faculty input. The combined weight of the two exams has been capped at 80%.

Rangan Banerjee, the director of IIT, stated on Thursday that the institution was looking for the best practices and has altered the exam procedure. "In the past, we offered a major and two minors. After doing a survey, we transformed that into a major and minor," he stated.
