The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay will shortly launch an Interdisciplinary Dual Degree Programme (IIDDP) in Quantum Technology. The course, according to Suddhasatta Mahapatra, an assistant professor of Physics at the institute, would be provided by the Centre of Excellence in Quantum Information Computing Science and Technology (QuICST). The Centre, which will open in August 2022, aims to "bring together a diverse set of expertise available at IIT Bombay towards innovation, education, and entrepreneurship in quantum science and technologies." Mahapatra is also the chairman of the QuICST.

Students enrolled in any Bachelor of Technology (BTech) study at the institute will be able to apply for the IIDDP programme, he noted. While the structure of the dual degree curriculum has yet to be defined, Mahapatra stated that it would be a two-year study, including quantum technology classes and project work that could be done with a research group linked with the QuICST. This new programme, like existing dual degree programmes, will allow students to earn both a Bachelor's and a Masters's degree in five years. A BTech student can enrol in the curriculum during their third year of study.
