Today, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha approved a bill demanding that the President, who would now serve as a Visitor, be responsible for the management of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM)s. As a result, the President of India will now have the authority to inspect how IIMs are run, order investigations, and nominate and dismiss directors. IITs and NITs have already hosted the President as a guest.

Before becoming an Act, this Bill will now be presented to Droupadi Murmu, the President of India. Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Education Minister, stated in the Lower House that the goal of the bill (which seeks to amend the IIM Act of 2017) is not to remove the institute's academic accountability but rather to ensure its management accountability because the Centre has spent more than Rs 6,000 crore on the establishment of the IIMs.
