BHU Will Launch 12 New Scholarships After Receiving A Donation Of 60 Lakh Rupees From Alumni

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has established 12 new scholarships for students enrolled in various programmes. The institution collected Rs 60 lakh from the families of its alumni to begin these scholarships. Kishori Jhunjhunwala, wife of entrepreneur Dhinanath Jhunjhunwala, donated the donation through the university's Pratidana initiative. On Saturday, they presented donation cheques to Vice-Chancellor Prof Sudhir Kumar Jain.
Kishori Jhunjhunwala has donated Rs 50 lakh to establish 10 Rs 25,000 scholarships. Eight of these scholarships will be offered to eligible Mahila Mahavidyalaya students based on merit and financial need. Acharya in Sanskrit Vidya Dharma Vijnana Sankaya (Faculty of Sanskrit Vidya Dharma Vigyan) will get two scholarships.
Mrs. Jhunjhunwala's husband, Sh. Dhinanath Jhunjhunwala, of Jhunjhunwala Oil Mills Ltd., is a 1954 graduate of the university with a degree in Industrial Engineering.
Jagdish Jhunjhunwala, MD, JJ Plastalloy Pvt. Ltd., and an alumnus of the university donated a sum of Rs 10 lakh to institute two scholarships for the female students of BSc (Hons) Physics.
