At Its 60th Convocation, IIT Madras Grants Around 2,700 Degrees

The 60th convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras was held today. 2,573 people graduated from the institute, while 2,746 people received degrees (including joint and dual degrees).
Out of the 2,573 graduates, 675 obtained BTech degrees, including 36 with honours, and 407 received dual degrees in BTech and MTech. The following degrees for executives were given out: 422 MTech, 147 MSc, 46 MA, 49 executive MBA, 67 MBA, 200 MS, 453 PhD, and 70 web-enabled MTech. 19 of the 453 PhDs conferred were combined degrees with Australian, Singaporean, French, or German universities.
Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, was the chief guest for the ceremony. He congratulated the students and the institute on their achievements and said, “Students who have graduated from his hallowed university and made not only our nation but the world a better place.”
Medals were awarded to four pupils for their exceptional work. Sai Gautham Ravipati (BTech in Electrical Engineering) received the President of India Prize for having the highest CGPA among BTech and dual degree students, as well as the Bharat Ratna M Visvesvaraya Memorial Prize. Neha Swaminathan (BTech and MTech in Biological Engineering) received the Sri V Srinivasan Memorial Prize for having the highest CGPA in a dual degree. S Prahalad (BTech and MTech in Biological Engineering) received the Governor's Prize for best all-around proficiency in curricular and extracurricular activities in a dual degree, and Shatakshi Sarangi (BTech in Mechanical Engineering) was awarded the Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Prize for best all-around proficiency in curricular and extracurricular activities in BTech.
