'India-Japan Study and Research Centre' will shortly be established at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode. This center's mission is to advance management education and research capabilities in areas of particular mutual significance to both nations.

A number of Japanese higher education institutions will participate in student exchange programmes thanks to this agreement. To advise IIMK on Centre operations from Japan, Prof. Rajib Shaw of Keio University in Japan has been hired as a visiting professor.

“Considering the current perspectives of both the countries’ interest in various domains, we have established this study cum research centre. This initiative will provide for the transfer of knowledge and competencies in the areas of mutual interest, thereby facilitating research collaborations and student exchange programmes with various Japanese Institutes of higher learning. This will also promote understanding of Japan in India and India in Japan through research, training and other management development programmes,” Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director IIMK, said.
