In According to the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) regulations of 2023, the MBBS students starting medical colleges in February 2028 will sit for the National Exit Test (NExT) Step 1.

In accordance with the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) regulations 2023, the new batch of MBBS students who are joining medical colleges this year will write the National Exit Test (NExT) Step 1 in February 2028. In February 2029, the NExT step 2 will take place. It was initially planned for the MBBS batch joining this year to take the NExT exam in December 2027 or January 2028. Still, the Graduate Medical Education Regulations (GMER) 2023, which contained the schedule, were withdrawn by the NMC. NMC's Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) announced the new schedule on Tuesday in its CBME regulations 2023 document. The NMC NExT exam for the 2023 MBBS admissions will be held in February 2028. University-level examinations have also been changed. Candidates are advised to visit the official website to read the notification in detail and refer to the information regarding the MBBS syllabus and curriculum guidelines.
