Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Approves Three State Universities In Gonda, Mirzapur, Moradabad

The plan to create three new institutions by amending the UP State University Act, 1973 has been accepted by the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet. The purpose of the amendment bill is to establish Maa Pateshwari Devi State University in Gonda. Uttar Pradesh State University in Moradabad and Maa Vindhyavashini State University in Mirzapur. A bill to alter Sections 4, 50, and 52 of the UP State University Act, 1973 will be introduced in the Vidhan Sabha. In Uttar Pradesh, 34 state universities are currently in operation.
The UP cabinet has also decided to bring an amendment to modify the UP Private University Act, 2019. The amendment will allow the establishment of SKS International University in Mathura. State finance minister Suresh Khanna on Wednesday had allocated ₹303 crore for the establishment of five new universities -- three state, one law and a technical university – in this year’s budget, the Hindustan Times had reported.
