UGC's New Life Skills Curriculum For Higher Education Institutions
Education News
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has implemented Life Skills courses as part of its Quality Mandate for undergraduate students enrolled in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The goal is to provide students with important soft skills that will improve their employability and self-esteem. Communication, interpersonal relationships, time management, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, leadership talents, and universal values are all covered.
On Friday, the commission shared the "Curriculum and Guidelines for Life Skills (Jeevan Kaushal) 2.0" guidelines with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 implementation. They will replace the UGC's Life Skills curriculum, which was created in 2019 to help undergraduate students.
A 10-member expert team produced the amended rules, which will be offered as elective or optional courses across fields. Like earlier standards, the commission has separated life skills courses into four major categories: communication skills, professional skills, leadership and management abilities, and universal human values.
