Deakin University in Australia, the first foreign university to establish an international campus at Gandhinagar's GIFT City, began accepting applications for its two postgraduate programmes on Tuesday. The studies will begin in July 2024, and there will be an annual tuition of AUD 19,000, or around Rs 10.7 lakh.
On the second day of the Australian delegation's visit to Gujarat, which was headed by Education Minister Jason Clare, this was declared.
Meanwhile, Australia's University in Wollongong has stated that it will begin accepting applications for the July 2024 session of its master's programme in computing (data analytics) at its GIFT City branch in January of next year. In 2025, the institution will begin accepting applications for its undergraduate computing curriculum.
Deakin University's 25,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to open in January 2024, most likely during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit. Applications for admission will be accepted until March 31.
"We will charge AUD 19,000, which is nearly Rs 10 lakh per year." For students, the cost of living will be roughly Rs 2.5 lakh per year. "That is roughly half the cost of what a student has to pay on the Australia campus," Deakin University Vice-Chancellor Prof Iain Martin remarked.
