The Establishment Of A Chair Professorship At IIT Bombay And Google Cloud India Will Advance Generative AI Research

Together, Google Cloud India and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay will create a prominent academic position that will advance study in the field of generative artificial intelligence (AI). The "Google Cloud Chair" will be the title given to this prestigious job.

Endowed professorships are given the title "Chair" in academia, denoting one of the highest honours available. According to IIT-Bombay, the funded Google Cloud Chair Professorship will support and enhance academic research initiatives and promote better research collaborations.

The person in this position is accountable for developing new academic programmes, enhancing current ones, actively participating in Google Cloud collaboration projects, and providing scholarly and technical advice in their area of expertise. IIT Bombay and Google Cloud will work together to define the standards for measuring the Chair Professorship's impact.

The Director of IIT Bombay, Professor Subhasis Chaudhuri, emphasised the importance of these Chairs, highlighting their crucial role in IIT Bombay's mission to draw in the brightest and most talented students, researchers, and professors with the ultimate goal of fostering future leaders and innovators.
