Tata Motors said on Monday that it has established automotive skill-building laboratories at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in partnership with Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

According to the home-grown corporation, these laboratories will provide fundamental automotive skills to over 4,000 students yearly, aligning with vocational courses envisioned in the National Education Policy 2020. Thirty percent of students enrolled will be girls.

As of today, 25 such labs, completely equipped with necessary instruments, have been established at select Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, the statement added.

"Our automotive skill labs empower youngsters from the underserved communities with employable skills, relevant for the evolving automotive sector in India," Vinod Kulkarni, CSR Head at Tata Motors, said.

These facilities not only offer practical skills and essential industrial exposure, but also give secondary and senior secondary students a comprehensive understanding of firm operations and school grounds, preparing them for the future.

Upon successful completion of the training, students will earn joint diplomas from Tata Motors and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS). This is just the beginning of the benefits. After school, students can pursue a diploma in manufacturing technology, which not only includes a full stipend but also provides on-the-job training at the company's production facilities. This unique feature makes our program a financially sound choice for students and parents.

Furthermore, the company said that individuals who choose to stay with Tata Motors may pursue a BTech degree in engineering, a 3.5-year executive education program in conjunction with chosen technical colleges that would lead to permanent employment after five years.
