Over 1500 OBC Students Will Benefit From MPhil And PhD Scholarships In 2022, According To The Government

In the fiscal year 2022-23, 1570 students will benefit from the MPhil and PhD OBC Scholarship under NF-OBC. This is the most recipients in the last five years.
According to data presented by the government in Lok Sabha, 679 students benefited in the 2018-19 fiscal year, while 1192 students will benefit in the 2019-20 fiscal year. The figure was raised to 1233 in the 2020-21 fiscal year and 1338 in the 2021-22 fiscal year.
This year, the state with the most beneficiaries was Uttar Pradesh, with 325 pupils, followed by Kerala with 120 students, West Bengal with 114, Bihar with 97, and Rajasthan with 96. The states/UTs which had less than 10 benefitted students were Chandigarh (1), Arunachal Pradesh (3), Sikkim (6), Tripura (7), and Goa (9).
The data was released after a member of Lok Sabha, Kodikunnil Suresh, asked the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment whether the Government is aware of increased delay in stipends of the scholarship scheme meant to help MPhil and PhD scholars from Other Backward Class (OBC) groups in the year 2014 under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
