Education News
In the heartlands of Odisha, Gujarat and Noida, Mangala Muduli, Ruby Prajapati and Sunny Kumar have risen as symbols of hope and inspiration. Their accomplishments have profoundly impacted their communities and extended far beyond, despite facing numerous challenges and obstacles.
Mangala Muduli, a 19-year-old from the Bonda tribe in Odisha, has achieved a historic milestone for his community. The Bonda tribe, which has one of the lowest literacy rates among Odisha's 62 tribes, saw a dismal literacy rate of just 36.61%, according to the 2011 census. Yet, Muduli has remarkably defied these statistics.
Coming from the remote Badbel village in the Malkangiri district, Mangala Muduli's journey to becoming the first person from his tribe to clear the NEET exam and secure a spot in the MBBS program at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, over 400 km from his home, is a testament to the power of perseverance and ambition. His achievement, ranking 261st among tribal candidates in his first attempt, is not just a personal victory but a beacon of hope that shines brightly for his community, inspiring all who hear his story.
Similarly, Ruby Prajapati's journey to medical school is equally inspiring. Ruby faced numerous obstacles in becoming a doctor from a small village in Gujarat. Her father, an auto-rickshaw driver, struggled to make ends meet, and Ruby encountered financial constraints that initially hindered her NEET-UG preparation. After three failed attempts, Ruby finally succeeded on her fourth try with a score of 635. Ruby's determination paid off as she now pursues her MBBS degree at VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Her aspiration to serve her community and provide essential medical care fueled her resolve.
Ruby's journey was not just challenging, it was a test of her resilience and determination. She faced personal and financial hurdles that would have deterred many, but she persevered. Ruby's story is not just one of success, but of the human spirit's ability to overcome. Her impact on her community, offering free tuition to local children in her village where coaching centres were scarce, is a testament to her character. Her YouTube channel, which now has 14,900 subscribers, is a platform for her to share her NEET-UG insights and provide valuable advice and encouragement to aspiring students.
Sunny Kumar, an 18-year-old samosa vendor from Noida, has defied all odds to excel in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA). His story has caught the attention of ‘Alakh Pandey’ from Physics Wallah, who frequently shares inspiring tales of students overcoming significant challenges to achieve their educational dreams.
In a recent video, Pandey was visibly moved after seeing Kumar's study space, where every wall was covered with meticulously organised notes. Despite managing a busy stall after school, Kumar dedicated long hours to his studies, often sacrificing sleep and enduring eye strain. "I made sure I covered every topic; there were no shortcuts," Kumar says.
Sunny's journey was challenging. His father was unsupportive of his educational pursuits, but Kumar convinced his mother to back his studies. Recognising his determination and potential, Alakh Pandey has generously offered Sunny Rs 6 lakh and pledged to cover his medical college tuition fees.
Kumar quoted, "Watching how medicines work and help people heal ignited my passion for biology," he explains.
Sunny Kumar's story is a testament to the power of perseverance and passion, showing that even the most challenging circumstances cannot prevent one from achieving one's dreams.
The trio, Mangala Muduli, Ruby Prajapati and Sunny Kumar are living embodiments of the spirit of resilience and dedication. Their stories are not just inspirational, they are a powerful reminder of the transformative power of perseverance and the profound impact of education. They stand as beacons of hope, inspiring us all to strive for our dreams, no matter the odds.
