LT Governor Soundararajan Of Pondicherry Has Urged Political Parties Not To Mislead MBBS Aspirants
Education News
Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, Lt Governor of Puducherry, recommended the union territory government on Monday to retain a particular percentage of seats in medical colleges for government school students who pass the National Eligibility Cumulative Entrance Test (NEET).
She attended the Puducherry Education Department's review meeting at Raj Nivas and underlined the importance of strengthening government NEET coaching institutions. 30 students from government coaching centres have currently qualified for NEET.
During the Congress-led V Narayanasamy government, political parties and social organisations desired the same thing. Although the UT administration sent a proposal for a 10% reservation, it was conveyed to the Ministry of Home Affairs by then-Lt Governor Kiran Bedi but was not granted.
Tamilisai also stated that teachers should receive unique training to help them tackle the problems of the CBSE curriculum. She stated that education quality should be enhanced, vacant teaching positions should be filled, and digital and smart classrooms should be established. The Lt Governor called for an investigation into the poor pass rate of government school students in public examinations.
