In Bachelor Of Data Science Programmes, IITs Set The Standard; More Recent IITs excel

IITs are the leaders in the field of Bachelor of Data Science studies. According to the Imarticus Learning Report 2023, an edtech platform, IITs ranked in the top three Indian colleges for Bachelor of Data Science degrees out of a total of 100 colleges.

Additionally, out of 151 institutions offering master's degrees in data science, IIM Calcutta, together with IIT Kharagpur and ISI Kolkata, took first place.

IITs are the leaders in the bachelor's degree category; IIT Hyderabad is first, closely followed by IIT Delhi. Notably, IIT Guwahati ranks third among educational institutions offering a bachelor's degree in data science. 

According to the analysis, there is a regional distribution, with the south accounting for 35% of the total, leading the west (27%), east (8%), north (26%), and centre (4%). The west zone has been leading the way with 43% of PhD programmes in data science, followed by the south zone at 30%, the east zone at 17%, and the north zone at 9%.

The report projects that the number of jobs in the big data and analytics field will increase from 215K in 2023 to over 338K by 2028. Major employers offering competitive annual compensation packages ranging from Rs 6.5 lakh to Rs 35.1 lakh include Amazon, AWS, Bain and Company, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, and Google.
