IISER Bhopal, Has A New Director, Professor Gobardhan Das

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, IISER, Bhopal, has named Gobardhan Das its director. Since 2018, Das has belonged to the Bengaluru branch of the Indian Academy of Sciences.

He worked as a professor and the director of the Special Centre for Molecular Medicine at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi before being appointed to the IISER Bhopal. Additionally, he has worked at Methodist Hospital in Houston, USA. Also a post-doctoral associate at Yale University in the United States.

2018 saw his election to the Indian Academy of Science in the category of general biology. His areas of expertise are cell biology, infectious illnesses, and immunology. Das is a fellow of the West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology, the National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad, and the Guha Research Council (GRC). In addition to reviewing for the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Journal of Experimental Medicine, Journal of Biological Chemistry, and European Journal of Immunology, he serves as an editor for PlosOne, Mycobacterial Diseases, and Frontiers in Immunology.
