Go beyond Canada!

Education Exclusive

Many ambitious study-abroad students are evaluating their study choices in light of Canada's recent policy move to limit international student admission. This development, compounded by a high percentage of visa application rejections, indicates a shift in Canada's accessibility as a promoted global study location. Nonetheless, this is a wonderful opportunity to broaden your educational horizons.

While we adapt to these changes, it is critical to investigate other study-abroad destinations that offer quality education, are affordable, and have welcoming policies for international students.

The following are some additional upcoming study-abroad destinations for Indian students:

France
Among the several benefits of studying in France is the simplified visa process, which includes a 5-year short-stay Schengen visa for postgraduates. The visa application process is quite simple, with short-term visas taking approximately 6 days and long-term visas lasting up to one month, with reasonable prices. The cost of living, including accommodation, is a bit high compared to its immediate neighbour Germany.

Germany
Germany is known for its excellent education system and research concentration and has emerged as a top destination for international students. The key distinction is that public colleges in this country provide tuition-free undergraduate programs to students of any nationality. Living expenses in places like Berlin or Munich typically vary from €850 to €1,200 per month, which includes housing, food, transportation, and health insurance.

Malta
Malta is becoming increasingly popular for its unique blend of Mediterranean culture and academic expertise. Students can expect monthly rents of roughly €700 and annual tuition expenses of €5,000 to €7,500.

Hungary
Hungary distinguishes itself for its low education prices (€1,200 to €5,000 per year) and moderate living costs. Its famous universities offer a wide range of high-quality educational programmes.

Sweden
Sweden is known for its innovative and research-focused education. Non-EU/EEA students pay tuition fees ranging from €7,500 to €25,000 per year, depending on the subject and university. The average monthly living expense is approximately €950.

Spain
Spain, known for its vibrant culture and recognised colleges, offers relatively inexpensive tuition fees (€750 to €2,500 per year for EU students, slightly higher for non-EU students) and low living costs (about €900 to €1,100 per month).

Ireland
Ireland's institutions are increasingly popular among Indian students, and they rank in the top 3% of universities worldwide. Ireland is well-known for its STEM and technology disciplines, but it also offers strong support for international students, post-study employment opportunities, and lower living and educational costs than traditional locations.

New Zealand
New Zealand's undergraduate courses cost international students between NZ$22,000 and NZ$32,000 (roughly €13,000 to €19,000) a year, combining a balanced lifestyle with good academic standards. Postgraduate studies cost between NZ$26,000 and NZ$37,000 (about €15,500 to €22,000) per year, with annual living expenditures estimated at NZ$20,000 (around €11,900).

South Korea
The South Korean Ministry of Education's ambitious 'South Korea 300K Project' aims to attract 300,000 overseas students by 2027. This effort intends to reduce language barriers and streamline permanent residency processes, lowering the time required for qualifying students to gain Permanent Residence (3K) from six to three years.

Taiwan
Taiwan is becoming a desirable location, offering both affordability and high-quality education. International students pay annual tuition fees ranging from TWD 100,000 to TWD 150,000 (about €3,000 to €4,500). Living expenses are relatively modest, ranging from TWD 15,000 to TWD 20,000 (about €450 to €600) each month.
