Delhi High Court Petition for CA Exam Date

The Delhi High Court is scheduled to hear a plea for a revision of the Chartered Accountants (CA) exams today, April 8. The Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) has scheduled CA intermediate and final exams for May. CA candidates have been urging the ICAI to postpone the CA inter and final exams in 2024 until June, citing worries about the timing of the 18th Lok Sabha general election.

The CA intermediate group 1 exams have been rescheduled for May 3, 5, and 9 instead of May 7, while group 2 will be held on May 11, 15, and 17 instead of May 9, 11, and 13. Group 1 of the CA Final exams will be held on May 2, 4, and 8 instead of May 6, while Group 2 will be held on May 10, 14, and 16 instead of May 8, 10, and 12.

The ICAI agreed to avoid any potential disputes with the impending Lok Sabha elections. However, CA candidates are dissatisfied with the revised exam schedule and push for the inter and final exams to be postponed until June owing to elections.

"Considering continuous requests & hardships of CA students, we have filed a petition in Delhi HC seeking rescheduling of CA Exams from May to June 2024. HC is likely to hear it on Monday. CA students, please focus on studies. The matter is before the Court now. Let the Court decide," shared advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava on X.

The CA Foundation Level Exam is set for June 20, 22, 24, and 26. The institute recently announced that it would raise the frequency of CA Foundation and Inter exams to three times per year, up from the previous biannual schedule.
