Women in STEM Scholarships

The British Council has announced the establishment of the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM project in collaboration with UK universities. The fellowship is intended for female STEM graduates who desire to pursue Masters degrees in the United Kingdom.

A total of 25 scholarships are earmarked for female STEM scholars from India and other South Asian nations. These are spread throughout five UK higher education institutions, including Queen Mary University of London, Anglia Ruskin University, Greenwich University, The University of Southampton, and Coventry University.

The grant will cover tuition, a stipend, travel expenses, a visa, health insurance payments, and English language assistance. Scholars can take courses in Data Science, Computer Science, Pharmaceutical Science, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, Civil Engineering Management, Intelligent Healthcare, and Actuarial Science, among others.

The British Council is searching for women who:

— Can pursue a course of study in the United Kingdom for the academic year September/October 2024-2025.

– Can show a need for financial assistance.

— Have an undergraduate degree that qualifies them for one of the pre-selected postgraduate courses at a UK university (master's level).

— Can achieve the level of English needed for postgraduate studies at a UK university.

— Are active in the field, with employment experience or a demonstrated interest in their subject.

— Are enthusiastic about their studies and willing to participate as devoted British Council scholarship alumni.

This fellowship intends to encourage young women to continue working in STEM professions by assisting them in advancing to leadership positions and providing networking opportunities with colleagues in their region and throughout the United Kingdom. The programme also accepts applications from women with dependents, providing additional support. The application deadlines vary for each university, but are normally between March and April 2024. Candidates can apply at the official website, britishcouncil.in/study-uk/scholarships/womeninstem-scholarships.
