At an estimated cost of Rs 2,742 crore, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid the cornerstone for the reconstruction of the Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), which would house 2,100 beds in addition to a college that will enroll 250 MBBS students annually. "Layed the foundation stone of the plan to redevelop Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital, Darbhanga at a cost of Rs 2742.04 crore," Kumar wrote in a post on X. We had previously stated that DMCH would grow to have 2,500 beds. At a cost of Rs 194.08 crore, we opened a 400-bed surgical block today and placed the cornerstone for the 2,100-bed hospital that remains.
In addition, today marked the laying of the cornerstone for the Government Maharani Rameshwari Indian Institute of Medical Sciences, an ayurvedic college located in Mohanpur, Darbhanga. Yesterday, Kumar also gave the keys to the recently built Deshratna Rajendra Prasad Multipurpose Building at Anugrah Narayan College in Patna. He gave instructions to guarantee improved instruction and sanitation on the college grounds.
