Following the deportation of Indian students from the United States due to visa issues, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday directed officials to gather information on the stranded students from the State and assist them with visa formalities. He asked officials to engage with the Ministry of External Affairs in order to settle the issue of Telugu students being deported.

It should be mentioned that between August 12 and 16, at least 21 Indian students were deported from various airports in the United States, raising concerns about visa issues. Sixteen of them were from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and they had finished their visa formalities and came to the United States with the purpose of pursuing further education.

According to reports, these students, who were travelling on F1 visas, were turned away from the airport by immigration authorities without getting an official justification for their deportation.

According to sources, the students' deportation will be reported exclusively to the Indian Consulate, leaving them in the dark about their alleged immigration breaches. The circumstance emphasises the importance of increased awareness efforts and advice for aspiring Indian students seeking higher education in the United States. NRIs in the United States have expressed concern that consultancies in India frequently mislead students and are unaware of required procedures and paperwork.
