Amazon Future Engineer Awards Scholarships to 500 Female Students
Education News
On Thursday, March 7, Amazon India announced scholarships for 500 female students through the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship Programme in India.
Under this scholarship, selected students would get Rs 50,000 per year for the duration of their computer science or related areas of study. The programme provides scholars with financial assistance, guidance from Amazon employees, and advanced personalised coding boot camps to help them transition into successful professions in the computer industry, thereby developing future female leaders in technology.
This year, scholars will also be given personal laptops to guarantee that they can participate in boot camps, webinars, and other engagement exercises.
The programme began in 2022. The inaugural batch of scholars, which included 200 outstanding female students enrolled in first-year computer science engineering programmes, was a varied group of first-generation learners, with many coming from families that were predominantly engaged in agriculture or manual labour vocations. Each scholar in the first cohort of 2021 and second cohort of 2022 received a funded scholarship of Rs 40,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively, as well as access to computer science boot camps, mentorship, participation in Amazon Women of the World (WoW) webinars, and a highly sought-after paid tech internship at Amazon.
Last year, the initiative included an internship component, providing 68 early and paid tech internships to the top-performing scholars in the first cohort.
