AICTE Launches Women-Only Generative AI Learning Challenge

Education News

AICTE

To champion women in the technology industry, the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has forged a monumental partnership with SAWiT (South Asian Women in Tech) and GUVI. This alliance, set to engage over 1.6 million female students from more than 8,200 technical institutes in India, is a resounding endorsement of Generative AI (GenAI) capabilities.

On September 21, SAWiT.AI will host a pioneering women-only Gen AI learning competition, aiming to empower five lakh women. This initiative, offering free, unrestricted online access to students across the nation, is a testament to our commitment to inclusivity. Our ultimate goal is to equip 10 million women with Gen AI skills, fostering job growth in the ever-evolving digital sector.

The AICTE, a key entity under the Department of Higher Education, is entrusted with the task of setting and maintaining technical education standards across India. In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, this alliance is geared towards meeting the increasing demand for future-ready education by integrating Gen AI training into the curriculum. The program is designed to enhance the skilling ecosystem through the National Credit Framework and Academic Bank of Credit (ABC).

The AICTE-SAWiT.AI collaboration delivers several advantages. Students learn Gen AI skills in six Indian languages, including English, making the training accessible and thorough. Completing the 15-hour Gen AI course, which includes Python, offers students one academic credit and enhances institutional curricula. Students can also participate in the SAWiT hackathon in October 2024, vying for recognition and prizes. Participants are asked to join the SAWiT network, which promotes professional growth and entrepreneurship.
