7 Months After The UGC Mandate, There Is Still No Ombudsperson For Student Issues In 584 Of 1,090 Universities

During the 2023-24 placement session, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati got a total of 712 offers until December 6. Offers were made for a variety of positions, including core, software development, product, analyst, and finance. The biggest domestic offer received to yet is Rs 1.20 crore, with an international offer of Rs 2.05 crore.
According to an IIT Guwahati social media post, 38% of the students were hired for core industries, while 36% were hired for software development and product jobs. Analyst and financial positions were offered to 26% of IIT Guwahati students.
So far, IIT Guwahati has received 11 job offers worth more than Rs 1 crore, while 90 students have received offers worth more than Rs 50 per year. The first phase of the 2023-24 placement session is underway, and 1,491 students have registered for placements in various fields of study. The phase 1 placement at IIT Guwahati is expected to last until December 15.
IIT Guwahati students have already received as many as 214 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) during the academic year 2023-24. Most of the offers were in the sectors of core engineering and finance profiles, a statement issued by the institute said.
The recruiters of this year’s placement session include Google, Microsoft, Mercedez, Bank of America, Bharat Petroleum, Bajaj, HPCL, Akasa Air, Navi, Piramal, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments. Over 250 companies have registered for phase 1 of placements. More than 50 start-ups have also registered for recruitment in the ongoing academic year, along with seven public sector undertakings.
