In Maharashtra, 4,600 "talathi" positions have drawn more than 10 lakh applications from job seekers, including MBAs, engineers, and PhD holders, a top official from the land records department said on Wednesday.

A talathi is a member of the revenue department whose duties include inspecting crops and boundary markings, preparing agricultural statistics, and maintaining village records pertaining to the demand and collection of land income. The wage scale for talathis, who are class C employees, ranges from Rs 25,500 to Rs 81,100 per month.

There are 4,600 open positions for "talathis," according to Anand Rayate, coordinator of state examinations and additional director of land records, who reported receiving 10.53 lakh applications. Between August 17 and September 14, "the exam will be administered in three shifts daily at various centres in the districts throughout the state," he stated.

Any graduate may apply for the position, but According to Rayate, applications have been received from people with degrees in engineering, MBA, PhD, BAMS, and BHMS.
