To Handle Student Complaints, IIT Madras Assigns "Student Ombuds"

The Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has selected G. Thilakavathi IPS, former Director General of Police (DGP) of Tamil Nadu, as 'Student Ombuds'.
G. Thilakavthi IPS will supervise and handle student complaints, safety, and disciplinary issues in her capacity as Student Ombuds. She will be responsible for developing and cultivating an inclusive environment on campus, ensuring that students have a supportive environment for academic and personal growth.
She will work closely with the students and extend support to them. The institute administration will also liaise closely with the Student Ombuds and ensure that grievances are resolved in a time-bound manner.
