Techno Global University in Meghalaya is removed from the List of Universities by the UGC

Techno Global University in Meghalaya's name has been struck from the list of universities by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Following the state education department's suggestion to eliminate the institution, because it was nonexistent, the committee made its decision.
UGC explained that TGU was established as a state-private university therefore, its name was added to UGC’s list in January 2013. “The Techno Global University, Shillong Polytechnic Campus, Mawlai, Shillong, Meghalaya was established by the government of Meghalaya as a state private university,” it said.
“However, the education department, government of Meghalaya vide its letter dated 27.09.2022 recommended to remove the name of the university from the UGC list of universities since the university was non-existent,” UGC notice informed.
Moreover, the website of TGU displays the following information: “Techno Global University Shillong, has never started any academic activity since inception. We have never issued any mark sheet, certificate or degree to any person. We have also never authorised any person or institution to act on behalf of us.”
“In view of the above, the name of Techno Global University, Shillong, Meghalaya, has been removed from the UGC list of universities,” UGC stated.
