University of Melbourne Expands Horizons with New Centre in Delhi
Campus News
The University of Melbourne has officially launched its first Melbourne Global Centre in Delhi. This vibrant hub aims to supercharge its partnerships and engagement with local students, alums, government officials, and educational institutions. This Centre is not just a physical space but a central connection point that fosters collaboration and knowledge sharing across education, research, industry, and community, making everyone feel included and part of a larger community.
Professor Michael Wesley, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global, Culture and Engagement), emphasised the significance of this initiative: "Our Melbourne Global Centre in Delhi marks a pivotal moment in our commitment to enhancing educational collaboration between India and the University. With institutional partnerships that have flourished for over 16 years, we are focused on empowering India and addressing societal needs through education and research.
The Centre promises to be a cultural hotspot, featuring dynamic performances, art exhibitions, and lecture series that connect cutting-edge research with Indian corporations and academic institutions. Mr Philip Green, High Commissioner of Australia to India, celebrated the Centre's opening as a landmark achievement, reinforcing Australia and India's shared vision for education and research as catalysts for economic growth and social progress.
It's important to note that the Melbourne Global Centre isn't an offshore campus. Instead, it aims to enrich existing initiatives in India for sustainable impact, guided by a partnership model that resonates with the needs of Indian institutions and government. This exciting development unlocks new opportunities for students and researchers from both nations to come together, innovate, and tackle shared challenges, promising mutual benefit and a brighter future.
