Jaipur Literature Festival 2024 begins from February

The second list of speakers for the much awaited 17th edition of the Jaipur Literature Festival, a literary event that brings together some of the world's most brilliant minds, was just announced. It is scheduled to occur this year from February 1 to February 5, 2024. This legendary occasion is expected to bring together a remarkable mix of writers, intellectuals, visionaries, and readers.
The recently revealed list includes 25 brilliant speakers, creating more excitement for this big literary event. These experts will have meaningful conversations, which is what the festival is all about - celebrating the joy of reading and sharing smart ideas.
List of notable speakers
- Akhil Katyal: A poet, translator, scholar, and author known for works like "Like Blood on the Bitten Tongue: Delhi Poems" and "How Many Countries Does the Indus Cross."
- Amia Srinivasan: Academic and writer well-known for her book "The Right to Sex."
- Andrew Quintman is a researcher who specialises in Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhist traditions. He is also the author of "The Life of Milarepa."
- Arundhathi Subramaniam: A renowned Indian poet a laureate of the Sahitya Akademi Award.
- Bonnie Garmus is the creative director, copywriter, and author of "Lessons in Chemistry."
- Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni: Award-winning novelist and the creator of several best-selling titles, such as "The Palace of Illusions" and "The Last Queen."
- Damon Galgut is a dramatist and novelist who has won the Booker Prize.
- Diana Evans: A novelist, journalist, and critic who has won an Orange Award.
- Gulzar Saab is a renowned poet, lyricist, and screenwriter who has authored more than 100 novels.
- Hernan Diaz is the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of "Trust and in the Distance."
- Kai Bird: Journalist and biographer, winner of the Pulitzer Prize, the author of "American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer."
- Katie Kitamura: Award-winning writer well-known for her PEN longlisted novel "Intimacies."
- Kelly Dorji is an actor, model, artist, and writer from Bhutan who wrote "The Hidden Rainbow."
- Luke Syson is the director of the Fitzwilliam Museum at the University of Cambridge, in addition to being a British curator and art historian.
- Justice Madan B. Lokur: Former member of the Indian Supreme Court and the Fijian Supreme Court.
- Malcolm Turnbull AC: A former politician and businessman, he served as Australia's 29th prime minister.
- Maria Goretti: An actress, television host, and writer of the cookbook "From My Kitchen to Yours."
- Merve Emre: A writer and scholar best known for "The Annotated Mrs. Dalloway."
- Navdeep Suri: A former Indian ambassador to Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, and Johannesburg as well as a high commissioner.
- Roger Cohen: A distinguished journalist and winner of the George Polk and Pulitzer Prizes.
- Sarnath Banerjee: Graphic writer, illustrator, and filmmaker.
- Shumona Sinha: Award-winning writer the author of "Down with the Poor!"
- Vincent Brown: Academic the author of two books: "Tacky's Revolt: The Story of an Atlantic Slave War" and "The Reaper's Garden: Death and Power in the World of Atlantic Slavery."
- Vivek Shanbhag: A writer, editor, and dramatist who has published thirteen fiction pieces.
- Yascha Mounk: An Author of "The Identity Trap: A Story of Ideas and Power in Our Time" and "The Great Experiment: How Diverse Democracies Fall Apart and How They Can Endure." American political scientist of German descent.
