The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) and Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited ("KMBL"/ "Kotak") announced today the establishment of the Kotak School of Sustainability at IIT Kanpur, India's first fully integrated school of sustainability.
To address the threat of global warming, IIT Kanpur and KMBL have collaborated to build India's first comprehensive School of Sustainability. KMBL is funding IITK's Kotak School of Sustainability through its CSR programme, with the goal of promoting pedigree education, research, and outreach. Kotak and IITK think that this School is well-positioned to provide thought leadership solutions for sustainability initiatives and to prepare future generations to take the lead in the cause of sustainable development.
The School will bring together departments and areas of excellence at IITK in order to foster collaborative research across different elements of sustainability. The Kotak School of Sustainability will contain dedicated centres of expertise in areas such as clean energy, environment, ecology, circular economy, climate finance, sustainable societies, and policy.
Tenured professors and prominent industry leaders from throughout the world will lead the Kotak School of Sustainability. The School is well-positioned to provide undergraduate and postgraduate academic and skill-building programmes in several sustainability issues. The School will be situated in a platinum-rated green building on IITK's main campus, with net zero energy, water, and waste policies.
