Attention PhD Scholars: IIT Kanpur Launches Innovative Fellowship Program

On 16th October, the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) proudly introduced a prestigious new initiative: the Fellowship for Academic and Research Excellence (FARE). This esteemed fellowship is a testament to the exceptional academic and research skills of our PhD students. As per the press release, its primary aim is to inspire the timely completion of doctoral studies while nurturing high-quality research output.

The application process is now open for full-time PhD students at IIT Kanpur. To qualify, students must submit their thesis within five years of starting their PhD program. Those who submit within five years and six months are also eligible, though the fellowship duration will be adjusted accordingly. 

Eligibility criteria require applicants to have at least one accepted or published research paper as the first author in a recognised journal or conference proceedings directly related to their PhD research. This fellowship is available to students from the Y18 batch onward.

The FARE offers financial support and a strong sense of community and collaboration. With financial support for up to 12 months, a stipend equivalent to that of postdoctoral fellows at the Institute, and additional research grants, the fellowship is designed to empower you in your research journey. 

While the current thesis supervisor will continue to act as the mentor, we strongly encourage you to collaborate with other faculty members throughout the fellowship period. This initiative represents a significant opportunity for you to enhance your research experience and make impactful contributions to your fields with the full support and reassurance of the IITK community.
