Campus News
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has begun a three-month Drone Technology training programme for Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and Other Ranks Officers (OR). The major goal of this plan is to modernise armed forces operations, develop skills for drone operations and utilities, and help the armed services make a smooth transition as they contemplate post-retirement employment opportunities in the rapidly expanding drone technology sector.
The programme is intended to provide participants with the knowledge, perception, and vision required for professional success in the diverse drone industry or as technological entrepreneurs.
The Centre for Educational Technology (CET), the Centre for Intelligent Cyber Physical Systems (CICPS), Centre for Drone Technology and IIT Guwahati Technology Innovation and Development Foundation (IITG TIDF) will carry out the drone technology programme.
According to an IIT Guwahati statement, this programme aims to provide comprehensive training on drone technologies, pilot training, software operations, and applications to other officers of the armed forces as well as junior commissioned officers, with the goal of revolutionising various operational activities. The current training plan, led by academics from several departments and centres with extensive experience, would equip our armed troops with multiple prospects as entrepreneurs or in any other technology-based second career.
