IIT Guwahati Introduces Mandarin language
Campus News
As a leader in promoting cultural and educational interaction, the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G) has teamed with the education branch of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre in India (TECC). Together, we aim to promote bilateral relations between India and Taiwan via education, linguistic, and cultural exchange.
As part of this collaboration, TECC will assist IIT Guwahati in recruiting Mandarin professors with expertise in curriculum development and foreign language course assessment. These professors will conduct Mandarin language classes over the specified semesters, enriching students' linguistic skills and cultural awareness. This will benefit students interested in internships and careers in Taiwan's semiconductor and agritech industries.
In exchange, IIT Guwahati will provide the required infrastructure to build the Taiwan Education Centre on campus, which will host classes, seminars, and bilateral exchange activities. As a testament to our unwavering commitment, the MoU will be effective for three years from the date of signing, with provisions for review and extension. This enduring partnership, with its clear timeline and provisions for extension, ensures the stability and continuity of our efforts to promote cultural and educational interaction, providing a sense of security to all involved.
"This collaboration aims to introduce Indian students to Mandarin language learning by offering access to high-quality instruction from qualified teachers. In doing so, IIT Guwahati seeks to equip students with valuable linguistic and cultural skills that are increasingly important in today's globalized world," according to the statement from the IIT-G.
