After what they claimed was an attempt by the institute's security to bar civil rights campaigner Teesta Setalvad from entering, faculty at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, were forced to step in on Wednesday to allow a talk by Setalvad.
Only hours before she was set to speak at 5 o'clock, a faculty member declared her "communal harmony and justice" discussion hosted by a students' club at the IISc was "disallowed".
Teesta Setalvad was scheduled to speak at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, on Wednesday, but faculty had to step in to make it happen following what they claimed was an attempt by the institute's security to prevent her access.
Only hours before she was set to speak at 5 pm, a faculty member declared her discussion, headlined "communal harmony and justice" and hosted by a students' club at the IISc, was "disallowed".
