CAT 2023: IIM-Kozhikode Revises Admission Policy, Places Greater Emphasis On Gender Diversity
Campus News
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode has updated its postgraduate admission policy for the 2024-26 academic year. Although the Common Admission Test (CAT) results would carry 45% weightage in shortlisting candidates for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and personal interview (PI), gender diversity and academics have been awarded 10% and 5% weightage, respectively. Last year, both of these components accounted for only 10% of applicant shortlisting.
The selection procedure at IIM Kozhikode is divided into three stages. To pass the first stage, a candidate in the general category must have a minimum CAT score percentile of 85 and a sectional percentile of 75. Class 10 grade point average of 60% and Class 12 is also mandatory.
In the second state, scaled scores from the three sections of CAT 2023 with equal weightages will be used to compute the CAT index score. The CAT index score will be given a 45 percent weight. While Class 10 and Class 12 percentage scores will be weighted at 25% and 15%, respectively, gender and academic diversity scores will be weighted at 10% and 5%. Work experience is worth 5% of the total weightage.
What is gender/academic diversity in IIM Admissions 2024?
Gender/academic diversity is rewarded with points. A gender diversity score of 10 is only available to female and transgender candidates. A candidate with a bachelor's degree or in the process of obtaining one in a discipline other than engineering and technology will be eligible for the academic diversity score of 5. A candidate is only eligible for one of two applicable diversity scores: gender diversity or intellectual diversity, but not both.
After the conclusion of the WAT and PI processes, IIM Kozhikode will shortlist the candidates for final merit based on their performances in CAT 2023, PI, WAT and resume score. While the CAT 2023 index score will carry a 35 per cent weightage in this phase, the PI, WAT and resume scores will carry 35, 20 and 10 per cent, respectively. IIM Kashipur has announced the dates for the EMAT programme in 2023.
